Forum Clean-up

Post by Alecossy »

First of all, i'd like all you to not take it personal or as a blame... this is just a suggestion to make the forum more user-friendly.
As you can notice, just by typing any kind of word in the Search page, most of the results are completly outdated and not even active posts anymore. This just ends up in hours wasted to search for the right post, without even being sure to find the right one.
My suggestion is the following:
1)U should think about doing a clean-up of the forums, this means to delete all the outdated posts, as well as the posts which were closed for any reason (similar posts, wrong posts, posts that are not following the rules). This would make the search part faster, as the users wont find outdated posts anymore (there are some posts which are more than 1 year old).
OR
2)Make a kind of sub-forum, which is going to contain any old post (dunno, like: unactive and more than 6 months old?). This way will make post available for those who are still working on old versions, such as interlude or CT1, without mixing up with the new ones. Also, this forum has to not be scanned while searching, or it can be included as an optional (like some kind of checkbox saying: "Search for old posts").
Of course, best ideas are always welcome, so if u got any other idea, feel free to use this post.

You can sort the threads by date while searching... Removing old threads isn't a good idea.

I think the same way as ZaKaX, cleaning outdated posts isn't a good idea. Better sort it by date and why not, limit the filtered results to "N" week/month/year old.
