Dedicated Servers - Quality / Price / Protection

Hello guys.. after so many months/years that i stopped working on l2 servers .. i decided to take a closer look if there is any progress on the "hosting" issue that i had.. i maybe didn't had the knowledge .. i maybe was too sad to search for an answer.. but now i'm opening this topic .. and im rly searching for a conclusion to this matter ..

My Facts :
The only company i have cooperated with is "OVH" .. i started at 2010-11 with a strong machine .. as i understood after so many years l2j doesnt needs a beast.. just needs a good machine & proper configuration .. the thing that matters is the internet .. thats the reason i went to OVH from the beginning .. i picked the best available internet bandwidth .. and that's the way i reached 1k players with no lag and no 1+ year ddos issues even with 1gb+ ddos attack .. at a reasonable price .. if im correct around 250e per month and like 500e at start for installation.. but after many mistakes and most of them by me... my server closed ..so i cancelled my dedicated machine.
Then at 2012-13 i decided to open a new one.. i had some rly nice ideas.. a lot of ppl wanted me to open a new server.. so did i.. again at OVH .. i thought .. why somewhere else ? we was fine we ll be fine..
I was wrong .. i had the same configuration, exact the same machine, exact the same protections, exact the same internet - bandwidth ... but they let me down guys.. rly hard.. at even small amounts of ddos.. i was kicked out of my machine.. i tried for an explanation .. there wasnt internal issue.. no problem with the code..or any virus.. there wasnt any rly high amount of ddos.. i m talking about 200-500mb !! i talked with the company i explained to them .. and they give me the reason thats happening .. new company rule ..
at 2010 they would give you a bandwidth .. and you was restricted to use up to that amount of bandwidth... but then at 2012 they changed that.. yes you have 3gb bandwidth but you can ONLY get good type of incoming data.. they installed a system at their centers that checks the incoming data and if they are not "good type- clean data" they lock your machine outside ! that means even a small amount of ddos and you re done ... so i tried for solution .. the 1st choice was some software firewalls and 1 hardware firewall at the expense of 350e installation and 150+ per month (if i remember well) ... and this choice would just save you for a 100-150 mbs ddos .. if it comes higher than that you re locked out again.. the next choice is to hire a company that is cleaning your incoming data .. but the price was RLY high as i searched the cheapest was about to 500e+ per month ! .. so after some hopeless tries wasting time & money .. i couldnt protect my server and i decided to close .. I ask you now guys .. many of you got servers live atm .. which is the solution for an l2j server live.. stable and protected to the common even rarely strong ddos attacks ? and whats the price for it ? i would be glad if you reply your own story with company names and price numbers ..

Leaved OVH a few years ago for another french company (owned by a french ISP) which is better in everything, including price
