NCZ0ft Taking down L2j servers?

It seems NCZ0ft is sending DMCA's to some of the top servers. Does anyone know why theses servers were shutdown, or just because they were running L2j?

this kind of promo isnt allowed as well...

Well anyway, Is it time to buy some Sealand and share it with the PirateBay? (Or at least move to a Non US host?)

Just called up my host company, they will not shut down or delete anything from my server until the final court ruling.

I have seen this tons of times, and NCZ0ft just tries to scare you with their 300 lawyers team, they actually dont want to go to court because if you dont have done something really bad like supplying modified client files (aka system folders), using their copyrighted content (images, musics, etc...) or you are winning about 10 grands monthly, they will most likely dont do anything.

To give an idea, I used to work on Bnetd (Battle.Net emulator) before blizzard stormed against it... Blizzard left Bnetd running until some lamers used it to pirate the Warcraft III beta (which was network play only)...

Since then, BNetd revived as Pvpgn, same codebase (you can even find comments from original Bnetd with names from original contributors) but Blizzard never did anything agains Pvpgn... Suing Pvpgn would be a certain win as it can easily be shown that it's the same program than BNetd !!!

There are UO server emulators for ages... Mangos for WoW, L1j (both asian and english version), L2j for Lineage (1 and 2), and many other... As long as it would cost too much and bring nothing to sue the Private Server, they won't care...

A private server with a few players, no client mod, ... would be a difficult target and/or a poor target... The publicity done to their game is bigger than the prejudice...

But begin to mod the client file and you're in big trouble and an easy target. Draw 1000+ player and NCZ0ft losses are too big vs the publicity. Get big donations and NCZ0ft will want to get that money back...

So, if you want to stay on the safe side, don't use L2 graphics on your web site, don't distribute the client and/or client patches (including custom graphics/models/...), don't ask for donation and keep number of players low...

how old are you dude ? How can you be abused for something you have not done...maybe in Uganda or Senegal..not in country with EU or US based law system...

If im a ISP i can not be accused that my users use my service to download copyrighted stuff or P2P, anyways i can be kind and say that i will help them to prevent this happening.

Then i will remove any "how to download the client" or any client related stuff from my site to avoid my users downloading any "illegal" client files like a.k.a "system folders" and "launchers", etc, etc...

Asking for donations and money its troublesome, mostly because you may PAY TAXES for it, at L2j we pay taxes for any donation, you can sell services and addon stuff but if you are in USA you must pay taxes, if you dont pay taxes then things may go bad.

Of course, users need to have at least 3 brain cells to know how to use a client in a l2j server, most of experienced players can do this with both hands tied and eye blided, or just... use google.

Is possible to connect to an l2j based server with NCZ0ft's client? I thought all our players/users have coded their own client!
