If the aliens are smart enough, they won't get in touch with us, because they'll be better off in this case. If human encounter a perfect second earth and / or aliens, it will stimulate them to find better energy sources and faster traveling opportunities. However: once humanity reaches that planet (given they can do so within a hundred years for example), I'm pretty sure they wouldn't come there to just stop by and say hello.
As far as I know it'd be the military, who'd get there first. And what can military do especially good? Yeah .. destroy and occupy. It's be the same what happened to America when the settlers barged in.
I honestly hope we will never really make it to any second planet and even more, that we don't encounter inferior civilizations. If we encounter a superior one - given that civilization is something like ourselves - we'll be dead pretty fast and the planet will be robbed of whatever it has to offer. So yeah... one way or the other: I'm sure we are not alone, but I hope it'll stay that way.

The word alien really just describes a life form which is unknown to us AND does not live on our planet.
