i checked the website and i saw that my i3 with dual cpu has 4 threads too same as 4 cores.. so i have to choose quad core AMD or dual core Intel with hyper threading ..since the mhz isnt important and we have the same thread amount i think the intel is better?

You should go for a AMD Phenom II that fits your budget, also AMD3 socket is compatible with future releases.

TPB is right. When a processor is a dual core with HT, the two threads share a single processor core (essentially causing each thread to use only half the processing power of that core.

Dual Core 2.0 GHz w/ HT:
2.0 GHz per core / 2 threads per core = 1.0 GHz per thread.
1.0 GHz per thread * 4 threads total = 4.0 GHz effective processor speed.

Quad Core 2.0 GHz (No HT):
2.0 Ghz per core / 1 thread per core = 2.0 GHz per thread.
2.0 GHz per thread * 4 threads total = 8.0 GHz effective processor speed.

This is a very rough calculation. As JIV said, it depends on what part of each core is being used so this is +/- a bit.

the machine will lbe used for workstation after we reach 150-200 people then i will move them on dedicated server so do i rly need that AMD quad core ? as i know AMD isnt stable as INTEL and since i need something stable i think the intel will be better or maybe not?

Lies, read recent CPU reviews about AMD Phenom II X4, those beasts have nothing to envy to Intel chips (im a Intel owner and i approve AMD cpus)

I just like Intel Xeon's QPI interface. Each processor core has an interconnection to memory, and to one of the hubs (northbridge and southbridge) the processor connects via QPI, and the two hubs are connected via DMI. For servers, RAM and processor speed are the most significant. I would recommend Intel Xeon 3500 series. W3520, the cheapest of them costs about 280 euros.

i7 is for games because of cheap prices and high clock speeds.

i am trying to do a configuration(pc) for up to 550-600 Euro...which one should i prefer

CPU : Intel Core-i5 660 3.33 GHz
MOTHERBOARD : Asus P7H57D-V EVO
SUPPLY : 400W(a cheap supply from my old pc)

i would choose i5 -760(whichi s quad core) but since it doesn't support graphics i will need to buy graphic card too that means a better supply (500w for example).. so that goes out of my range

i think that for AMD processor 400W is rly low thats why i chose 500W

if you have a better conf please post it here(to fit the budget)

Save a bit more on Box, use whatever is cheap around.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Socket AM3/AMD 890GX/SATA3&USB3.0/A&V&GbE/ATX Motherboard GA-890GPA-UD3H

Yo do not need a Graphic Card, its haves integrated graphics using the new AMD Chip, and its not a crappy one, its one of the best ones!

Supports Phenom II X6 in case that you want to upgrade later. Also supports SATA3.0 and Max 16GB DDR3 Ram.

Do not buy Seagaste, they are going to be sold to another company soon (probably to Western Digital) i would preffer some Western Digital Caviar Black in RAID0

Use a Corsair 550 Power Supply, that is a damm cheap little BEAST.
