Hello all . i wanna ask what is best protect for server

agains hackers etc. what antivirus ... and maybe some anti hacker patchs ? ...

Sorry, if my post brakes any rule, but there are Anti Cheat-Guard 1v6 it protects from phx and other stuff.

The best protection is well customised linux or FreeBSD as operation system for server

i have Win XP

hmmm but i dont need antivirus ... right ? the players cannot send me virus deal java or server ?

In your case... You NEED antivirus and firewall for best protection of your server. Actually, WinXP is not suitable for a good server. You need Win 2003 server at least.

You don't need an antivirus on a server, unless you are using it as a workstation (e.g. having an old crappy pentium 3 with WinME at home, and logging in to the dedicated server to do everything).

Also, I really do not recommend a firewall. The low-level driver emulation just sux, you're better off with a good router (not a cheap one for home users).

And about OS, a headless one should be used for servers, as it does run faster & most of the time is cheaper (if you're renting a server it is a factor).

OK, if he had installed WinXP, then I don't think that he is going to connect to this machine. So, he will work with the game server and datapack directly from WinXP. Who knows what he can download from the internet with some custom items, events etc.

About router. Even the expensive Cisco badly copes, for example, with SYN-attack

ok and what is best protect agains cheats ? they are so many so i dont know witch is the best protect u can post me link or code for a good anti cheat patch .. ?

I want an airplane ,gimme one.. You should find it by yourself. There is no such thing as AIO or aio patch to fix ALL bugs. Its L2J after all ,if you want bugless server pay for one or pay for L2OFF.

Lee, in case you didnt understand, he IS actually trying to find out how to by himself. You should say something usefull or say nothing at all.

My imput: try searching. However, if you use latest revision, most exploits shouldnt work anymore.

No he didn't ask for that.. whatever.

Im still not sure for the lastet revision ,because there can be still flooded with PHX.

You will always have possible exploits. You can't really avoid them, just make sure you're active and keep an eye on your server, everything should be fine.
