Gameguard problem

Hi Folks,
I've been bashing my head against this for a while now, and I need help. **hangs head in shame**
The last system downloaded and installed was 5th February. Gameserver and login server are running as far as I can tell.
Someone kindly gave me a download for the Hi5 client and I've installed that, but I get a gameguard error - the traditional 152 followed by 610 a short while later.
I've tried the usual; the machine is local so there are no firewall issues. The gameguard folder has been deleted; the system re-installed, the hosts file had its nprotect entries remmed out, anti-virus told to ignore the game folders ... but I'm now at a loss and need help.
Anyone have any ideas please?
