Cannot change NPC appearance

Ok, so I am running a Freya test server for now. You can see the revision version above.
I have a small problem. I implemented a set of NPCs on my server and I cannot change their template.
I go to the database, change the template of the NPC, change it's class, but after I restart the server nothing happens. I also looked into the gameserver console and there are no errors, and I can use the NPC properly.
How do I change their appearance ?
