This is a simple guide for installing gui and remote desktop for ubuntu: LINK
In case you are wondering how to install mysql, java etc. You can download all these things from the Ubuntu Software Center once you finish the guide successfully.
P.S: I made this guide for acis users (Original Post) and thought people here might find it usefull too.
UPDATE:
If you want to use a lighter and less buggy gui use the command:
sudo apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-goodies
This one uses like 300mb ram tops and its stable.

I'm not a pro in linux, but when I started it I understood one think - shell it's a power in Linux.
P.S. It isn't sarcasm because it's a mini turtorial for newbies) I read about this on official web site Ubuntu.
