Since you are renaming methods and reworking just quests, it now will be so hard for you...xban1x wrote:And we will be commiting to 2 branches... having to make each patch work for both branches... see what i am getting at?Gladicek wrote:Still L2j can create GoD branch as have for older chronicles and who want it can start working on it.I donť know why to work on H5 since as you know most of features will be removed/reworked etc so its kinda waste of time. On official servers will be now another new chronicle and L2j still is on H5. It can take years till will be "stable" (as you know how many bugs it have). For me time for H5 passed and L2j should move on. Major thing which I remember for L2j was using newest client so ppl dont need to download old ones.

Re: Future Updates?
If you start it from scratch or from H5 at this moment it will be same. Unstable version count so many bugs which came from reworks so still you need to rewrite it again as you can make it from scratchxban1x wrote:Where will GOD start from? Scratch or H5 ?

Re: Future Updates?
Those reworks are needed to get those things working as they should.
Bugs will appear during the reworks that should not surprise you at all.
After all we call this branch "BETA" or "Unstable" for a reason.
For now we will stay on High Five as long as we think we should.
Not to mention that we won't be able to develop GoD with so low amount of devs.
So we'd rather stay on version we can actually get fully done.

Re: Future Updates?
It would be nice for once to complete a Chronicle before moving to the next one.
See how many people still use old branches and wish they had more things working...
So as said, stick to Hi5, when done, move on.
About GoD, there might be something that could help.
Provide a patch for login support only! Yes, I think that this would satisfy most people!
Create a post per next GoD client and let people share their work there.
Better than losing Devs on bad coded packs.

Re: Future Updates?
It would be nice, but only if people shared good code, which is a rarity novadays. Most folks are either noobs or whip up something that "just works" but is terrible to behold to anyone worth their salt.
Besides, who's going to review those patches?

Reviewing ain't a problem we all find time to review each other patches.jurchiks wrote:It would be nice, but only if people shared good code, which is a rarity novadays. Most folks are either noobs or whip up something that "just works" but is terrible to behold to anyone worth their salt.

Provide only login support (move character, interact with npcs) not full packets support, jurchiks wrote:It would be nice, but only if people shared good code, which is a rarity novadays. the users may post their work/rework/improvements in a sub forum.
L2J is focused on HighFive so there should be no support for these.

That would only cause problems.pandragon wrote:Provide only login support (move character, interact with npcs) not full packets support
Users will see that we have "GoD" branch and they will say that it is buggy nothing works and so on we have go explain anyone that this is not an active branch which is in development and so on..

Re: Future Updates?
you can name the branch buggy/incomplete/notfullgod or something like that. but i agree its better to finish high five first.
