Hello, need help/advice with my setup

Hello, I'm new around here and I've read a few articles and posts about setting up an L2j server and I'm having a hard time understanding a lot of terminologies and stuff.
I have no experience in programming and it's been a long time since I last played Lineage 2 (last time I played it was Scions of Destiny).

Basically, I just wanna play Lineage 2 on my own computer, with my own server (meaning same machine running both the client and server.)
My specs are Win 7 64 bit, 8 GB ram, Core i5. I have a router and my IP is dynamic, I think.
Will this be enough to be able to host my own server? I basically just wanna play alone and connect on my own server and I dunno how to do this and stuff. And I just wanna know how to set it up in 'layman's term', I suppose.
Will I need to make changes to the game client for me to connect to my own server?

Also, how do I get a GM shop where all items can be bought?

Any help/advice/ or link to previous post regarding my question would be appreciated. Please and thank you :)

There's enough information in this thread alone to satisfy your requirements, you just gotta be willing to look for it.

Look for the search button on the top right.

I'd start with the Wiki though: http://www.l2jserver.com/wiki/L2j_Wiki:Community_Portal

The L2J Wiki is a wealth of information for people just starting their servers.

Okay, so I finally got my server to work. I just did a fresh install of High 5. Now how do I play in my own server?
I started Lineage 2 but then it went to the usual patcher and said something about cannot connect to NCZ0ft blah blah blah.. I tried finding the l2.exe but I couldn't seem to find it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated, please.

Do not let it update. Run l2.bin from the system folder (rename it to .exe first).

Also edit your hosts file to point to 127.0.0.1 for L2 domain names - that way you do not need to do any router magic. (You do not even need internet if you do so.)

Hello and thank you for the reply. I did as you said, and now when I enter my lineage 2, I get an error saying:

the gameguard file is damaged error 153

What should I do next?

Try deleting the gameguard folder.
