Would L2j work on another game?
Hello, I hope you all dont mind me asking if L2j would work on another mmogame.. lets say Aion or KnightOnline? - if you wrewrite some code. And if possible, does that voilate against any licence or something? Hum hum hum

Short answer: YES IT CAN!!!
Long answer: Actually some Aion emulators are based on several pieces of L2j Server code, doing the proper code changes you could use L2j with any other game you want, of course you would need to rewrite all the mayor packets functions and also create a new Datapack for your desired game.

i've heard this rumor.... that somebody combined a L2 server and a Aion server to form 1 game....
is that possible?

that would be only server side, not client...
If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.

If i remember well, Aion Lightning (previously Aion Unique) is L2j based.

Yup it's definitely based on parts of L2J.
But there are also parts written by the team itself and I should know since I worked with them for a while
Aion has way better networking compared to L2.
So like Merelix said.. possibly parts of L2J can be useful for any MMORPG
