Knowledge shouldnt be a public free good. There should be an elite of people who use it and spread it to those they believe can use it in the better way. At least it works better than giving it to everyone. The wider mass always includes those that will harm the public with the usage of their power.

You think that knowledge should be only given to the privileged? Only people who have the "right" to use it. Tell me, who decides who has the right to learn and who doesn't? You? Me? The Queen of England? The Pope? I think not. I would not let anyone tell me that I do not have the right to learn something.

If you believe that everyone can learn but not everyone can use what they learn, then what's the point of learning in the first place? Personally, I rarely try to learn about something that I couldn't or wouldn't use. Again, my question is: who decides the people who are allowed to use their knowledge? What gives these privileged people the right to use what they learn? Also, what happens when a very intelligent, privileged person gets greedy? What if he decides that he is going to use his resources to make a product so well known and used that it becomes a necessity, only to later to use his monopolistic position to capitalize on it at the expense of the consumer? There has been a company that has been fined several million dollars for doing such a thing: Microsoft. If it weren't for the governments that tried to protect the people, they would have drove every other competitor out of the market.

Aside from that, you have the right to have an opinion, at least that is what I believe in. Though this is an open forum, I most definitely believe that you do not have the right to come here and whine, in a very convoluted manner, about how other people running servers are taking away from yours. This is what the root of the (possibly drunken) argument is leading to. We at L2j, including the founders, absolutely wanted to keep this project open and free. We could have used a closed license, but if that were to have happened there would likely be fewer servers, less to choose from. It would be no different from retail, you go and you get only a small selection of servers. I like choice in my life, to choose what I do or want to do. How about you?

The decision about who has the "right" to use the knowledge, is taken by those who have power. Not with democratic ways. Those that can force their will on others, will decide what is right and what is not. And thats what happening in our world if you havent noticed. But dont go that far in the globe, ill give you a shorter example. PhoenixBird and some other staff members, came here to ridicule and troll my topic with behaviour that does not suit their position. I insulted back and guess what, there is a warning in my inbox and not in theirs Just an example to see that the team you represented with your post, thinks the same as you, but acts different

Regarding the decision taking that derives from the latest talk. I believe freedom and democracy are values that should be used during a situation that is stable and doesnt need any drastic change. Democracy is made for that purpose, to maintain ordered things, in order. But when you need drastic changes, democracy wont work. In ancient Greece when things were going out of hand, they were lifting the democracy and appointing all the power and authority to one single person. He was allowed to act on self will and based on the outcome of his actions to handle the situation, he either became a hero, or an exiled tyrant/villian.

Finally about the servers. The ability to chose something that represents you is a strong point. But on the other hand, when the representatives become more than those seeking to be represented, i believe we are in a verge of a big problem. When hopzones top10 consists of useless servers while others with higher value are not even visible you can easily see things going bad. Zekex, how does it feel, to see in top rankings servers that are centuries behind your servers development ? nBd, how does it feel, when l2dubai owner, who has no idea even on how to build a jar, uses code with annotations @author nBd, steals your website, steals your population only because you let him do it by giving him that right ? How many of you l2j developers who have tried making a server did it sucessfully ? I can count you in fingers. Not due to lack of ability, but due to all that monsterous mass of incapable server-owners drowning you and your servers by their zergish existance.

We do not need 1000000 servers representing us. I believe you all agree on that. Limited server base doesnt deprive people from tasting the game from their own perspective. And since a situation like this cannot be healed currently, the only possible, logical verdict i can get, is that some people arent qualified to use their charismatic knowledge wisefully. Some visitors of the topic misunderstood its purpose. Im not crying about anything. It would be futile to do an action without a purpose. L2J going privae at that point of time wouldnt do much good, since the "cancer" has evolved a lot. All im doing is trying to find out a verdict from all that situation. A verdict with a more global meaning that can teach us important lessons about life. Tell me really what i dont see, where im wrong ...
