Instability and subclassbug

Post by Notorious »

Server Version= 3757
Datapack Version= 6841

First of all, I'd like to know if anybody else is experiencing instability with the new client. I don't know if it's the server, or the client itself, but people seem to get a lot of crashes/dc lately. Many times it sais something like L2.bin has done a bad thing and needs to be closed, or you get a "General protection fault". Seems to be better on XP though. On Windows 7 it's a nightmare. To me it seems that I cannot have a dualbox on follow, or it will crash. If I set the settings to not decrease performance while in background, it doesn't crash that often, but all the earlier clients I've been able to have lower priority on the games that are in the background. So my guess is that it's the client itself, and not the server. For some reason, I think it has to do with the lower framerate.

Secondly, yesterday a player called my attention and said he wanted me to fix his skills. It turned out that he had both his sub and main skills on his main character. The sub was OK, but the main was bugged.
I don't know when or why this happened, and I've had no real problem with the server yet, no major crashes or anything. So I cannot give you much info about it, just to let you know that there exist such a problem, atleast on my server. It has never happened before that I know about, so I'm pretty surprised.

Is there any sql-command one could issue while server is down, to make sure no main class has any subclass skills? Would be great, just to make sure nobody else are having the same issues, but aren't telling me.

Many thanks!

I have no problems starting the game, not even with Window 7 (not anymore), but it crashes during play.

My players also report lots of crash :S, mostly if they try to dualbox. I do not know why but for me no problem.

For me old version (148 protocol) is much stable than new (146 protocol).

No problems for me using 146, even though sometimes my client freeze when utorrent is on but its because of utorrent.

I can confirm that there are a lot more crashes with the new client than it has been before, I have done very little research and it seems that the new client is pretty crappy built. However I have a theory that some packet is missing because as far as I can see it sends some unknown packet which I have not been able to decifer yet,.

if ppl crash, that s client fault 99% of time. have them update their epilogue client, my advise...
