no offence but im sure that i have seen a really similar or same design somewhere else, maybe that is the reason of the jurchiks comment.

usually designers use stock themes and modify them sighly/partially to meet their customer requeriments, i do the same thing at work, i only make "unique" designs if the customer ask for it.

well you see, not everyone uses the latest, i use IE7 because i have some addons that work only on this version and not ie8
and if you want people to really appreciate your work, you should make it support as many browsers as you can, that's what a good site is about in general (keeping the functionality and support together)
and i really don't think that those 2 corners are a good reason for me to upgrade my browser
