You only need the host file changed on the server if you plan to run the L2 client from the same machine. Not a good idea by the way.

If you are using another computer then the host file will need to be changed on that one to point to the IP address of the server for L2authd.lineage2.com.

No you should not have to edit anything on the client if you have it on a diff computer if so I have to edit the L2.ini file so other ppl can get on my server. because when I played on a diffrent server they just had me download the system folder copy it to my lineage 2 folder and I started the game and played that way without editing the host file

Edit your Host like mastermind007 say.

I never download some system folder from other server or do something like tis.

Edit your Host like

127.0.0.1 localhost
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx L2authd.lineage2.com

localhost should be allready in there
and x should be your IP adress

Most likely via an illegal client modification then, which this site doesn't support.

There is no legal way for others to connect to you server other than them editing their host file.

There computer has to resolve L2authd.lineage2.com to your IP address. If it is not in the host file, their computer will do a DNS lookup and find that actual NCZ0ft IP and never go to your server.

There are other way to do it but they require changing the client files which is a big no no.

# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx L2authd.lineage2.com
