Multi-Language Support Initiating...

Post by denser »

Hello folks, i dig in old forum this thread http://www.l2jserver.com/old-forum/thre ... adid=33626
so, we test a multilang system messages, but i saw in other branches this-like system for all datapack.

i mean you write in game ".ru(bl, en,... etc)" and get html-s and other things from server side in your translation.

i.e. in quest we has subfolder witn name of locale, quest\12345_somequest\ru\*.html - in case of ru locale - server show this htmls (if any).

somebody can help with it?

in about 3 years ago, i was a partof ST-Team project. so we has that system but i confused to get partof system from core code, i have datapack from c4 and c5 of this, we can worcks in this direction, and im shure, many ppl wants to add translation on his lang, so we can get international product :)

that was what I am aiming for.....

we already have a fully working Taiwanese and Chinese Language setup..

other language I need translator for it, so feel welcome....

and its really not necessary to get different name for datapack, just create a new branch of svn for it....much easier and cleaner...

I will provide the SVN repository if people welling to work on it...

First you need core-support for a multilanguage system. That means you need something like a central handler which tells DP and serveral core stuff which path (f.e. 20000_BlubbiBlubb/ru/html) is called.

That's the very first what needs to be implemented before you prepare your minds for any translationstuff.

Translating itself is in my opinion no problem. There will be enough people sharing their translated stuff.

Besides that, you need to need to decide where to set the priority. Either you call retail-like sm from client or you make fully customized sm from serverside.

I don't thing L2J-Devs want to customize any systemmessages. Remember they just synchronized Retail-messages.

it is not needed to change the DP path, its pretty much useless...

Its not like you put both language on same server ....

also, about the client system message redirect, there are some need a huge work, due to specific things that add to string....

in case, just read property from db account - locale - fyl core will look to the folder in htmls where are they.(1321_quest/ru/default.html; html/merchant/ru/12345.hml etc)

JUST add codename of locale to looking up if any files has there.

that is a bad idea, different language client could crash each other..

and its pretty stupid to make a server with different kind of language in there that increase the problem with communication.

ok, i has red his post.

2. we have an UTF8 coding system - no problems with codepages - all of characters built-in in client.
3. system messages - it is not a problem, even if all of content will be russian and some of custom messages in english - its ok i think.

all i try to do - it little expantion - locale is a trouble of localezator.

in this case - i have already russian Gracia Final client (http://l2.ru/) - no modded client, Innova Systems is official company from nc-soft.

i have expiriance of integrate ru htmls in server - no problems.

Ppl, lets make an option in core to swich in OFFICIALY supported localization from nc-soft?

official rus client

I hope Innova burn in hell. They translate game by only one reason: this is requirement by NCZ0ft to non-russain speak retail players do not go to free russian server. Do not confuse players by russian skill\item\... names. Only quest and another dialog texts need to be translated. IMHO. Translate entire game is same as type

Code: Select all

целое i = 1;пока(i-- != 0) продолжить;
instead

Code: Select all

int i = 1;while(i-- != 0) continue;
No one did this shit. Innova is exception :x

i mean, that most of stoppers told - we need to modify client to support input...etc.
u can use eng client for game but recieve rus/bl/tw messages and dialogs...

its simple..why dont? :|

innova - let them do what they want..i dont care.

i have to find old build of ST-team server core to dig it..
there was acommand (.en or .ru or .sw etc) to swich locale of recieved files. it was very convinient and simple - if you hasnt subfolder with locale before htm name (..../..../..../loc/7878.htm), then loaded regular(eng) html. in quests and other html folders.
